Brandon Prust ready to play in Europe

After spending the last year and a half outside the NHL, Brandon Prust is hoping to make a return this season.

The former Canadian sniper got an invitation to the Los Angeles Kings training camp, where he will try to find his first NHL contract since he spent the 2015-2016 season with the Vancouver Canucks.

The last NHL Prust campaign came to an end in January 2016 when the Canucks slapped him before defeating him in the American Hockey League. He then took part in September at the Toronto Maple Leafs training camp without getting a contract. However, he spent the next three months with the Toronto club by attending the training sessions.

Prust then joined the Ice Tigers of Nuremberg, a German club with three goals and five assists in 29 games. He then collected two goals and four assists in 11 playoff games.

The 33-year-old recently told NHL.com that the Kings told him he would get a real chance to get a job in the team this season. If this does not materialize, Prust is open to the idea of continuing his career in Europe.

“But I’m focusing on the Kings. I will have the same approach to LA as I had in Toronto. It just did not work last fall even though I think I played well. I will try to do that again. ”

Since being drafted in the third round by the Calgary Flames in 2004, Prust has accumulated 40 goals, 115 assists and 1,036 penalty minutes in 486 NHL games with the Alberta club, Coyotes, Rangers, Canadian and the Canucks.
